I have just completed a new score for Paul Wegener’s 1920 film of ‘Der Golem’(the ‘origin’ film set in 1580) It was well received at Eastercon LX, the SF & F convention in Bradford, but I would be interested in an opportunity for a further public outing for this. so would be grateful for any suggestions.

Hi Luke, how about the possibility of turning your Calendar page into a comprehensive listing of ALL UK silent screenings & related events… or even of establishing a completely separate page for them?
Although I try to keep a constant look out for screenings I’d like to attend, I often frustratingly find out about them after they’ve happened – or, I guess, I don’t hear about them at all!
Unless you know of somewhere I’ve missed, there doesn’t appear to be a near-definitive, constantly updated central listing point for UK-only silent events.
Such a page/site would also make delving into the real-life world of silent film a lot easier for interested novices, who don’t have the knowledge or time to go trawling through all the multifarious sources available to find that one-off screening…

I reckon your site would be as good a place as any… nay, make that the BEST place!
You could openly invite submissions for inclusion; I’d obviously happily be a regular contributor, for starters.
    What do you think?

    Hi Brent,

I have thought about providing a silent screenings service, but I have a day job and there just isn’t the time to do it properly. Moreover, there is the Nitrateville silent screenings service which does include some UK screenings. My policy is not to duplicate services which are provided elsewhere – for the same reason I don’t provide a silent films on DVD section, as there are good sites that do that already. So I would encourage UK readers to join Nitrateville and to add screenings information when they find it.

But thank you for your kind words about The Bioscope.
